TVnews Programme (http://tvnews.hkedcity.net) is a free, online, self-access English learning platform which aims at encouraging students to learn English via authentic and multi-media online resources. These materials are based on TVB Pearl’s local English news. Through watching daily English news report, students can enrich their English vocabulary and enhance their listening skills. Students’ awareness towards social affairs will also be enhanced.
TVnews 08/09 programme has been started on 16th October, 2008 this year. Schools participating in TVnews programme are welcome to share your school’s experience, teachers’ feedback and students’ feedback with others.
Mr. Jerry Chui, a participating teacher of TVnews 07/08, shared with others teachers about how TVnews programme could be integrated in teaching English Language at school during the seminar on "Using Online Resources in English Learning and Teaching cum TVnews 2007/08 Award Presentation Ceremony" which was held on 4th October 2008. This is a radio programme for kids to listen from an authentic source. Students can listen to the latest programme online. The story "What would you like to be?" is suitable for primary students to listen and read .
